The Half Marathon starts at 8:00 a.m. east of Lammer’s Foodfest, approximately 1/2 mile up the hill on Dairyland Road, near the intersection with 22nd Street South. A FREE shuttle which will drop participants at the start location will be departing from the Burger King parking lot (on Wilson Ave.) from 7:00-7:45am. Please do not wait for the last shuttle which will leave at 7:45. You should park on the streets near Burger King (please not in the Burger King lot) or Stout lots which we have permission to use so your car will be very close to the Post-Race Celebration at Burger King. If necessary, you can also be dropped off at the start by a friend.
After the start, runners make a sweeping, U-shaped loop along the rolling country roads just south of Menomonie – along County Road J, east along 410th Avenue and 430th Avenue, and then across the bridge that spans the Red Cedar River along 440th Avenue. Once they make it over the river – and the hillier portions of the race, especially between mile markers 4 through 7 – the race flattens out as the course puts runners onto the Stokke Trail, which runs along the river’s western bank.
Runners follow the Stokke Trail all the way north along the river for the next four miles, heading through Devil’s Punch Bowl County Park and Riverside Park on the way to the second bridge crossing, this time much closer to Menomonie at Broadway Street. Once they make the turn onto Broadway and cross the bridge, the race heads south into the University of Wisconsin-Stout campus, where runners will run past the university’s iconic Bowman Hall clock tower, and then head east onto Wilson Avenue for the race finish just past the Mabel Tainter Theater.
Water stops and bathroom facilities will be offered approximately every two miles. After the first half of the course in the countryside, participants will make their way down to Irvington where participants will enter the Red Cedar State trail (packed gravel-bike/walk/run trail). At this point there will be a Bathroom/Water/Advocare Rehydrate Electrolyte drink stop donated by Mainstreet Health + Fitness.
We will have pacers to accompany you on your run to help you reach your goal time. Pacers will be wearing “pacer” shirts and carrying signs with the following times to help you achieve your finish time goal: 1:45 / 1:50 / 1:55 / 2:00 / 2:10 / 2:20
Participants will have three and a half hours to complete the race. Participants who are unable to keep a pace of 16 min/miles by mile 8 may be asked to leave the course to ensure the safety of all participants and to stay in compliance with the time allowed by the city/county to keep the course open. Transportation to the finish will be provided to any participants who are unable to maintain the 16 min/mile pace or decide they are unable to finish.
We ask that racers who wish to dress in layers, and then get rid of clothing, to throw them off to the side of the road so others don’t run over them. Volunteers will then pick up the tossed items. Thrown items will not be returned but rather will be collected and donated to Goodwill.
Please note that this is a family-friendly event where strollers are allowed, but we ask that you leave your pets at home.

Race entry includes an official Get It Dunn Run wicking t-shirt & other goodies! Finishers will receive a custom-designed GIDR 13.1 medal!
For those who want to clean up post-race to enjoy the other festivities, Mainstreet Health + Fitness is offering showers (with towel & wash included) for $5. Sales will be split between M H+F and M.O.M. They also have 24 lockers (bring your own lock) for use, first come, first served.
